The Wonder of Science
Space.com has an interesting article on an unexpected discovery in near Earth space, a third Van Allen radiation belt.
This belt was stable for a matter of weeks before a change in the solar wind hitting Earth eliminated it. As the scientists interviewed noted, it is one of the delightful things about science that new discoveries can still be found in places that were thought to be understood.
